How to make a training video

A step-by-step guide to making a training video that people finish and remember: goal, script, recording, review and updates.

Define one goal.

Write one sentence: after watching, the learner can do this. If you need two sentences, make two videos.

Script and record.

Write the narration first. Short sentences, concrete steps, plain words. Show the task as it is done, and keep each video short.

Record clean audio. Poor sound loses viewers faster than a plain picture.

Review, publish and update.

Ask someone who has never done the task to try it. Fix what confuses them. Add captions and a transcript.

Date the video and plan when to update it.

Questions

Before you get in touch.

How long should a training video be?

As short as the goal allows. Split long topics into modules.

Do I need a professional studio?

Not always. Clear audio and a steady shot matter most.
